Our History: A Legacy of Faith-Based Education
Carolina Christian School was founded by Carolina Presbyterian Church (PCA) with a clear vision: to offer families in Locust and the surrounding area an educational choice built on enduring Biblical truth. Following the success of their established Preschool program, the church leadership prayerfully moved forward to create a full-fledged school.
On August 16, 1999, Carolina Christian School opened its doors to its first students in Kindergarten through Second Grade. Since then, the school has steadily grown to include PreK through Twelfth Grade, celebrating its first graduating Senior Class in 2012.
Throughout our history, Carolina Christian School has remained committed to its foundational purpose: to provide an exceptional education that nurtures the spiritual and intellectual growth of our students, equipping them to serve Christ in their communities. We value our ongoing connection with Carolina Presbyterian Church as we continue to pursue this mission.
Our Seal: Rooted in History, Embracing the Future

Our seal underwent a brand refresh in Spring/Summer 2025, building upon a strong foundation while thoughtfully incorporating elements that represent our identity and community. Staying true to our heritage, the seal still proudly features our name, a central Cross symbolizing our Christ-centered mission, and a rampant lion, representing strength, courage, and the Lion of Judah.

To further embody our story, we've added the year of our establishment, anchoring us to our history. A significant addition is the locust branch, a meaningful emblem of our Locust community. The powerful image of the lion holding the locust branch signifies God's protective hand over our school and the community. Finally, the individual leaves on the locust branch beautifully represent the individual children of Carolina Christian School, nurtured and growing under His care.
This refreshed design now deeply reflects our location's unique story. The early community of Locust was known as the "Crossroads", serving as a vital junction for travelers heading to Cabarrus, Anson, and Mecklenburg counties. Just as the central well and the large locust tree once provided sustenance and a landmark for weary travelers at this historic "Crossroads", our seal's Cross also represents Carolina Christian School's role as a spiritual and educational "crossroads" in the community. We stand as a guiding light and a source of truth, supporting families and students from Locust and the surrounding areas where Stanly and Cabarrus Counties meet, as well as Union, Anson, and Mecklenburg Counties.
