Scott Childress joined the Carolina Christian School Board in July 2015. He has served the Board as Treasurer, Vice Chairman, and currently as Chairman. Scott graduated from UNC-Charlotte in 2000 and is a licensed CPA. Scott began his career with a world-wide accounting firm and specialized in audits and reviews of a wide-ranging client base. He then spent ten years working in private industry as CFO and Controller of an entrepreneurial group with a portfolio which included research and development, manufacturing, distribution, and real estate holdings. Most recently, Scott led the Forecasting, Budget Planning and Analytics team for a large non-profit healthcare company. He joined Tyson Childress, PLLC of Locust as a partner in 2019.
Scott has served on the board for Harrisburg Crisis Assistance Ministry. He is known in the community for his passion for coaching youth sports, including basketball, football, and soccer. He is an active member of Carolina Presbyterian Church and serves as a Ruling Elder on the Session. Scott and his wife Amanda have three children who have attended Carolina Christian School since Kindergarten.
Scott desires to see CCS continue to produce quality graduates who are prepared to interact in the world from a spiritual knowledge and service perspective.
Desiré Taylor and her family have been a part of the Carolina family since 2014. Both of her children, Bella and William Jackson, have attended CCS since preschool and along with husband, John, the Taylor family are members of Carolina Presbyterian Church.
Desiré left South Africa to attend college in the US in 1998. She attended UNC Charlotte, majoring in mathematics and civil engineering. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from UNC Charlotte, where she, along with John, now work as professors in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. In recent years, their area of research has shifted to mathematics education and their duties include educational design in STEM fields. The Taylors also manage their own educational consulting firm (Taylor-Squared) that provides educational design consultation services.
Desiré is very committed to Christian education and is grateful for the opportunity to serve on the board of directors for CCS. She is excited about sharing her skills and experience and is honored to serve the families and students of CCS.
Ryan Cornell joined the Carolina Christian School Board of Directors in August 2019. Since then, he has served as the Board's Treasurer and is currently on the Finance Committee. Ryan serves as a Deacon at Carolina Presbyterian Church, where he and his family have been members since 2018.
At his office in Uptown Charlotte, he manages a corporate risk team for Wells Fargo focusing on the Auto business. Ryan is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and received his Baccalaureate of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Florida.
Sharon Hinson served on the first CCS Board when the school was initially being developed. She was a vital member of the school's accreditation team during the ACSI visits. Sharon is currently serving her third term on the CCS Board and is the acting Board Secretary, in addition to being appointed to the Board's Advancement Committee.
Sharon Hinson is a Registered Nurse with a BSN degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She has served in the nursing role for over 44 years and is currently employed PRN at Novant Health as a Clinical Educator and as a contracted RN rater with Healthstream. She has been a nurse educator for 38 years of her career and for a number of years worked closely with orientation of new nursing hires, Human Resources and Policies, and Procedure Development with Novant Health.
Sharon is a communing member of Carolina Presbyterian Church and raised her family of two sons, Anthony and Daniel, in the church. She is married to Charlie Hinson who has served as a church Elder for several terms. She and Charlie have taught Sunday School for children 2-4 years old for many years. She has been active in Mercy Ministries, Community Groups, Discipleship Groups, and other church related activities. She has two grandsons currently enrolled at Carolina Christian School, Riddick Hinson (Grade 6) and Nolan Hinson (Grade 4).
Robert Britt joined the Carolina Christian School Board in the fall of 2019. He is the Director at West Stanly Christian Ministries, a local crisis assistance ministry in Stanfield, NC, and has served there for the past 8 years. He is married to his wife, Wendy, for 25 years and they have 3 children: Canyon, Caleb (Andrea), and Naomi. They have lived in the West Stanly area for the past 30 years and the Britt family loves this community. Robert and his family attend Eastside Church.
Robert enjoys serving on the Carolina Christian School Board and being a part of what Christ is doing in this community through education and advancement of young adults. With a heart for discipleship, Robert sees Carolina Christian School as being pivotal to leading the next generation to follow the Lord and represent His kingdom accurately and efficiently.
Shane Everts joined the Carolina Christian School Board in 2020. Shane and his wife, Shelley, currently have two students enrolled at CCS. Their son has been enrolled since Kindergarten in 2011 and their daughter has been enrolled since PreK in 2016. Shane has actively supported the ministry of CCS over that time period. He desires that Christian education would continue to flourish in Locust, and that CCS would be the ministry that God uses to advance that goal!
Shane graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a finance concentration. He and his wife are active members of Carolina Presbyterian Church, where Shane currently serves as a Ruling Elder on the Session. Shane has a deep love for missions, both domestic and international.
In his free time, Shane enjoys camping with his family and friends.
Mark Lambert joined the Carolina Christian School Board in 2016. He is a Stanly County native who currently lives in Oakboro. He attended West Stanly High School and CPCC. Mark has worked in construction management for over 30 years and currently serves as the Executive Vice President at Southern Mechanical Services, Inc. Mark and his wife, Gwen, have two children that are currently enrolled at CCS; Kaitlyn (Grade 12) and Clay (Grade 10).
Mark and his family have been members of Carolina Presbyterian Church since 2014. They are active members serving as Sunday School teachers, community helpers and community outreach volunteers.
Mark enjoys working with the talented, dedicated individuals on the CCS Board. Getting to know the Christian men and women of the Board has helped him grow as he completes this privileged work. The CCS Board has made many recommendations during Mark's term which have resulted in positive adjustments to improve academic excellence, spiritual growth, and athletic opportunities. He is excited about God's plan for the school and considers it a tremendous honor to serve the CCS school family.
Head of School
Dr. Daniel Patton has over 28 years of Head of School experience in the field of Christian Educational Leadership. He holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Liberty University, a Master degree in Business Administration from Temple University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource from Liberty University. Dr. Patton’s passion is helping schools advance both academically and spiritually. Leading schools in areas of advancement including; initial and re-accreditation, technology, new campus development, and construction. Married to Mary Ellen, they have four children and six grandchildren living in the Charlotte area.
