Lesley Crosby

PreK Teacher

Mrs. Crosby holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  This is her 10th year of teaching in our CCS PreK program.  Previously, Mrs. Crosby taught in the Charlotte Mecklenburg school system before having her two children, Morgan and Matthew. 

 

Mrs. Crosby loves teaching at CCS for the relationships formed between her and the students and families.

Jennifer Price

PreK Assistant

Mrs. Price holds an Associates degree in Computer Programming.  She began working at Carolina Preschool in 2009 after staying at home to raise her two children.  She has been a teacher assistant for 8 years in the Carolina Christian School PreK program.  She loves watching the children learn new things and how to do things on their own.

Beth Neal
Kindergarten Teacher

Mrs. Neal graduated from Wingate University with a Bachelor Of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught Kindergarten and First Grade before staying home to raise her 7 children. She is excited to be a part of the Carolina Christian School family and is looking forward to serving the students and families here.

Nicole Coan
Grade 1 Teacher

Mrs. Coan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development;  Birth-Kindergarten from Appalachian State University.  She is entering her 9th year of teaching.  She has taught Kindergarten, Preschool, Second Grade and Toddlers in the past.  She has experience teaching in public, private, and charter school settings.  Mrs. Coan is excited to teach within a Christian school setting with her faith at the forefront of what she does on a daily basis.

Hope Absher
Grade 1 Teacher

Mrs. Absher holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, K-6 grades, along with an EC Administrative and Paraprofessional certificate.  She graduated from Pensacola Christian College and has taught for 23 years in Christian education, Preschool through Middle School.  She also has experience in educational administration and teaching students with disabilities.  

 

Mrs. Absher is excited to teach children within a biblical setting and see them grow for the Lord.  Her favorite hobby outside of the classroom is to be outdoors with her family.

Nancy Barbee
Grade 2 Teacher

Mrs. Barbee holds a Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Education degree.  She graduated from UNCC and has taught 4th and 5th grade in the Stanly County School System.  She retired from the public school system in June 2022, but the Lord led her to CCS to fulfill a maternity leave and then she finished the year as a Resource Teacher for students who needed additional instruction.  This is her second year at CCS and she has been appointed as an Interim Teacher position for 2nd grade.  She loves to see the spiritual and academic growth of the CCS children, but her favorite thing is hearing their prayers.

Dawn Colravy
Grade 3 Teacher

Mrs. Colravy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ.  She homeschooled her three oldest children through the 5th grade and has done a substantial amount of substitute teaching in the private and public schools.  Since 2016 she has taught 3rd, 5th, and 6th grades at Covenant Christian School in Panama City, FL. Mrs. Colravy's family moved to Locust in July and she is very excited to be a part of the Carolina Christian team.

Jeanette Faulkner
Grade 4 Teacher

Mrs. Faulkner holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Gardner Webb University.  Her favorite part of being a teacher is watching students grow both academically and spiritually.  She loves the sense of family and service to our community that Carolina Christian School promotes.

Kelly Kirby
Grade 5 Teacher

This is Mrs. Kirby's first year teaching at Carolina Christian School, however she has been teaching for over 20 years.  She has taught various Elementary grades at public and Christian schools.  She is very happy to be returning to a Christian school this year.  

Mrs. Kirby's family recently moved to Peachland and are loving the small town life.  She and her husband just celebrated their 25th anniversary this past April.  Her husband is a nurse that works in Columbia and they have 3 children (Lilly Beth, 13; Emily, 8; and Kenan, 3).  All three children will be attending CCS this year.  Additionally, they have a bunny named Mashmallow and a dog name Beau.  They enjoy traveling to new places and just spending time together as a family.

She is looking forward to a wonderful 5th grade year!

Wendy Hammond
Lower School Art/Library Teacher

Mrs. Hammond holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Ministries with a minor in Elementary Education from Belhaven University.  She enjoys encouraging creativity in her PreK - Grade 5 Art students and helping her library students find books that pique their interest while also exploring genres they might never have otherwise read.

Faith Aldridge
Lower School P.E. Teacher 

Ms. Aldridge grew up as a competitive gymnast since she could walk.  With a career ending injury that led to a year full of physical therapy and eventual surgery, she found a love of helping individuals of all ages prevent injuries that accompanied her love for sports.  Miss Aldridge studied Exercise Science at Coastal Carolina University and ultimately received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Systems Management from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  She is a certified personal trainer and her goal is to ensure our athletes safety and to create relationships that will teach our youth the valuable lessons they need when their time at CCS is finished.

Becky Daugherty
Lower School Teacher Assistant

Mrs. Kerns has earned her certification in Child Development and Early Education as well as Teacher Effectiveness Training through Stanly Community College.  She has served for the past 5 years as Carolina Christian School's Elementary Teacher Assistant.  She finds great joy in being part of the educational process and loves watching the students grow academically, physically, and spiritually with each passing year and being a part of the CCS family!

MacKenzie McCarthy
Lower School Spanish

Ms. McCarthy holds a Master of Arts degree in Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  She has been teaching at Carolina Christian School for the past three years.  She is looking forward to sharing her love for Spanish with the 3rd-5th grade classes.

After School Care

Mr. Steven is an alumni of CCS and a graduate of Anderson University (SC).  He enjoys spending time with younger students and seeks to bring bits of joy to their day.  Just as Jesus looked out for children, Steven hopes that others will reach out and do the same.

Kristi Craven
After School Care

Ms. Kristi earned an Early Childhood certificate from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.  She also holds an Associate's degree in Applied Science (Photographic Technology) with a concentration in Photojournalism from Randolph Community College.  Ms. Kristi has been a preschool assistant at CCS for two years and is in her first year as a 4 Year Old Lead Teacher, in addition to working with After School Care.  She loves working at CCS and loves how she is able to be part of ministering to so many children and their families, and sharing the love of God with them.
