CAROLINA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL Alumni Spotlight

After graduating from CCS in 2015, I pursued my bachelor's degree at UNC Chapel Hill.  While there, I studied Exercise and Sport Science and enjoyed participating in campus life and making new friends.  Unsure of an exact career path to pursue upon graduation, I decided to participate in the Winston-Salem Fellow Program, a part of The Fellows Initiative.  This 9-month faith-based professional development program equips young professionals for a thriving, integrated life of faith, work, family and community.  During my time in the Program and my time in Winston-Salem post-Program, I decided to set off on a career path in public health.  With this decision, I moved to Washington, D.C. in the fall of 2021 to pursue a Master's of Public Health in Health Policy at The George Washington University, which I completed in the Spring of 2023.  After an initial stint in veterans policy and advocacy, I am now a lobbyist at a small firm of dedicated professionals who help mission-driven non-profit organizations identify and secure federal funding to better serve their communities.

My path has not been linear, and I could not have planned it- even if I'd tried!  I am grateful for the Lord's guiding provision each step of the way, and am excited to see what all He has in store as I continue to live and work in DC.

After graduating from CCS, I pursued an undergraduate degree at High Point University, double majoring in Spanish and Event Management.  I decided to further my academic studies by getting a Masters in Spanish from UNC Charlotte.  After finishing these degrees, I spent a year abroad in Mexico doing missions work, working with a church and teaching ESL at a local Christian school.  I have been back in the states for about 9 months now and am working as a teacher at a local high school.

I enjoyed my time at CCS.  I am still really close with my classmates and several of my teachers.  CCS gave me a great foundation both academically and in my faith.

After high school, I attended Anderson University in South Carolina and obtained a degree in Graphic Design.  Since then, I have been appointed with Serge, an international missions agency, and I am preparing to serve as a full-time missionary in Japan.

Looking back, Carolina Christian School provided opportunities that are hard to find elsewhere.  Getting to learn and hang out in a Christian environment was a blessing and is something I'll always be grateful for.  I also appreciate the continued opportunity to be a positive influence on the younger students at CCS.  It goes without saying that the little dudes look up to the older ones.  And, let me tell you, you never know how far a simple fist bump will go!

Since graduating from Carolina Christian School, I have begun working on my undergraduate degree in Zoology at Colorado State University.  As one of the top veterinary and pre-veterinary schools in the nation, I am currently a Sophomore pursuing a pre-veterinary medicine track.  I have participated in animal-related volunteer work both in Colorado and North Carolina, most notably volunteering at the exotic animal sanctuary Tiger World over the past summer.  I was also accepted into the University Honors Program and have since then become an Honors Peer Mentor for the University where I help lead an introductory honors class.  Gratefully, this coming summer 2025, I will be participating in an internship program in Sydney, Australia where I look forward to working at Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary.

Carolina Christian School guided me both academically and spiritually throughout my childhood and adolescence.  With it's small, yet loving community, I believe I gained the most out of my education both through hard work and truly caring teachers.  However, not only do I believe I excelled academically, I also believe I excelled spiritually.  Through many chapels and devotions, I learned what it truly means to be a Christian and serve the Lord.  I'm so grateful for my time at Carolina Christian School and I hope others can also gain the most of their experience at CCS as well.

After graduating from Carolina Christian School, I pursued an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering at UNC Charlotte.  During college, I gained valuable experience through an internship at Westinghouse in the Nuclear Power industry.  Upon completing my degree, I joined Zachry Nuclear Engineering as an Electrical Engineer, where I modify and design Nuclear Power Plants across the country.

Carolina Christian School provided a strong foundation for both my college education and career.  Carrying forward the morals and ethics I learned there has been a true blessing in my professional journey.

Since graduating from NC State in 2016, I have worked in the digital marketing field, both in large firms and an agency.  Most of my work currently is client facing.  I work in a very fast paced and rewarding industry and it has kept me up to date on all the new tech and its direct impact for businesses (AI, ChatGPT, etc.)  Last spring, I bought a house in Huntersville, NC and I currently sit on the board at Adoption Support Alliance, an organization that supports both adoptive families and adoptees.

2012 feels like a lifetime ago and I know Carolina Christian School has changed so much since I graduated.  I remember the uniqueness of growing up with school, literally year by year.  I learned from a young age that BIG undertakings are not completed fast, but with patience, diligence and people coming together under one vision.  It was truly a blessing to witness this first hand at CCS, starting with my Kindergarten year.  Congratulations to CCS on is 25th anniversary!

I graduated from NC State University with a degree in Sport Management in 2024 and I then decided to become an Athletic Field Technician for the Town of Cary, NC.  I currently help maintain the baseball fields that we lease to a private organization, USA Baseball, who then hosts national tournaments for highly ranked recruits.

My time at Carolina Christian School helped me to learn everything I needed to know in order to succeed in college and in life.  CCS helped me keep a firm foundation throughout college and now in the workforce.  I was well prepared and grateful for my time at CCS!

After CCS, I moved to California to study international relations and Arabic at Stanford University!  Then I earned my master's in international policy from Stanford and went on to work at the Hoover Institution as a senior research program manager for Lieut. Gen. H.R. McMaster (IS Army, ret.).  I support his research, book projects, events and classes, and I lead a team of Stanford student researchers.  During the Afghanistan withdrawal of 2021, we did humanitarian relief work with Afghan refugees.  I am also pursuing my PhD in War Studies at King's College London focused on US-Iraq relations in the 1990s.  In my free time, I love to go to gardens with my husband and baby daughter and be involved in our local church.

My time at CCS prepared me to think critically about the world around me.  The academics gave me the foundation for future study at the highest levels, the teachers believed in me and taught me how to inspire others, and the athletics programs taught me the value of working as a team.  I'm proud to be a CCS alum!

After graduating from CCS in 2021, I attended CPCC for one year.  There I was able to take some General Education classes while also playing basketball for a prep school called 1 of 1 Prep.  After  a year spent at CPCC and 1 of 1 Prep, I earned a basketball scholarship to Catawba College.  The past three years at Catawba, I have been working to earn my degree in Elementary Education.  This semester I am student teaching in the 4th grade at an Elementary school in Rowan County!  While playing on the basketball team, we have won 2 regular season championships, one regional championship, and an NCAA Final Four appearance.  Catawba College has given me the opportunity to continue my education while also playing the sport that I love!  I will be graduating in the Spring of 2025 and plan on teaching the next Fall!

My 12 years spent at Carolina Christian School prepared me to go into college with my eyes set on Christ and not the things of this world.  The relationships and memories I made there will be a part of my life forever.
