New students may apply to Carolina Christian School for entry at either the semester change or during open enrollment. PreK and Kindergarten students will be selected through a process that includes a review of student readiness assessments, teacher evaluations, and a successful interview with the headmaster. For applicants in grades first through twelfth, the process will also include a review of previous school performance. If the initial assessment does not provide a clear understanding of the student’s readiness, Carolina Christian School may require additional testing. Student acceptance and placement is determined by the outcome of the assessment process and class availability. Open enrollment applications will be processed in the order that they are received. Once the available class slots have been filled, students will be placed in a wait pool. Placement in the wait pool does not constitute acceptance, and the order of selection from the wait pool is at the sole discretion of the administration. A student must be accepted before applying for financial aid.
OPEN ENROLLMENT - 2020/2021 TERM
Carolina Christian School will open enrollment for the 2020/2021 school term in two phases:
RE-ENROLLMENT: FEBRUARY 3-18, 2020. During our re-enrollment period, all current Carolina Christian School students will be eligible to reserve their seat on the next class roster. Securing a student's seat for the 2020/2021 school term will require the submission of a re-enrollment packet on behalf of the current student and payment of the re-enrollment fee. Please note that all current PreK students will be eligible for re-enrollment into our Kindergarten class; no student readiness assessment required. However, if our PreK teacher suggests assessment prior to Kindergarten enrollment, we reserve the right to charge for the assessment ($150).
Open Enrollment: February 19, 2020. Each new student interested in enrolling at Carolina Christian School is required to complete an online application. Applications will be made available during our open enrollment period, beginning February 19, 2019. Each new student application requires an application fee to be paid at the time of submission and is non-refundable.
APPLICATION FEES: $100 (Preschool: PS2, PS3 and PS4) / $150 (PreK - 12th Grade)
STUDENT READINESS ASSESSMENTS
All new student applicants (PreK-12th Grade) are required to complete a Student Readiness Assessment. This assessment is designed to evaluate readiness and proper grade placement for each student in order to provide the best chance for individual academic success at Carolina Christian School. Once your student application has been reviewed, inclusive of all required documents, our admissions team will contact you to schedule an assessment appointment. On-site assessments will take place at Carolina Christian School. On-site assessment dates: March 30 and April 3, 2019. We ask that you make every effort to be available for on-site assessments. If you unable to make the on-site assessment dates, you will need to complete the battery of assessments at ABC Educational Services in Matthews, NC. Once assessment results are delivered to Carolina Christian School, a member of our admissions team will contact you to review the results and discuss next steps.
HIGH SCHOOL APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
All new High School student applicants are required, in addition to the online application and student readiness assessments, to complete a student questionnaire, student interview, and family interview with our administration team. We encourage all High School applicants to reach out our admissions office to discuss the application process prior to completing an online application.
Once an applicant has completed all the requirements for the admissions process, the student's application will be evaluated by our admissions team to make a determination on the best fit students for each of our classes. If acceptance is granted on behalf of the applicant, you will be notified by our admissions team on how to officially enroll your student into their prospective class for the 2020/2021 school year. The enrollment packet must be completed online and upon submission, the student's enrollment fee will be required in order to secure the student's seat on their prospective class roster. Enrollment fees are non-refundable. Enrollment fees are not required for Preschool age students.
ENROLLMENT FEES: PreK - $300, Lower School (K-5th Grades) - $425, Middle School - $425, High School - $675
Carolina Christian School desires to provide an affordable, quality Christian education. It is our sincere hope that no family would fail to consider our school based on financial reasons alone. As a result, we offer need-based financial aid to assist qualified families in affording a Carolina Christian education.
To apply for Financial Aid through the school, please complete the FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment between February 1 and April 30. For information on the FACTS Financial Aid Application Process, please click HERE.
FINANCIAL AID POLICY
Families seeking financial aid must reapply each school year.
Families may be awarded financial aid based on the results of their financial aid report.
All financial aid granted is contingent upon the student maintaining acceptable academic progress, avoiding disciplinary problems, and upon parent cooperation with the school.
Financial Aid and the NC Opportunity Scholarship are separate programs. A student may only utilize one form of financial aid per school year; FACTS Grant and Aid and the NC Opportunity Scholarship may not be combined.
Additional restrictions or adjustments may be added at any time throughout the year, as the school board deems necessary.
Carolina Christian School participates in the school choice opportunity provided to NC families (sometimes referred to as the NC Opportunity Scholarship). Please note that this is a state-funded program that is not managed by CCS. For information on the NC Opportunity Scholarship, please go to http://www.ncseaa.edu/OSG.htm. To view a flyer with eligibility requirements and qualifications, please click HERE. The Opportunity Scholarship opens for applications in February each year.
